1083- Holy Emperor Henry IV of Germany storm’s Rome, capturing St  Peter’s Cathedral.












SPANISH EXPLORER HERNANDO DE SOTO



1540- Spanish Explorer Hernando De Soto crosses The Appalachian Mountains, 1st European to do so.













DUTCH WEST INDIA COMPANY



1621- Dutch West India Company (WIC) receives charter for The West Indies ( THE AMERICANS, CARIBBEAN, AND WEST AFRICA)









ROBERT E. LEE



1864- General Robert E. Lee wins his last victory of Civil War at Battle of Cold Harbor.












INSURANCE COMPANY




1919- Supreme Liberty Life Insurance Company ( Chicago) – The first insurance company organized by African Americans formed.







TREATY OF LIMA



1929- Chile and Peru signed the Treaty of Lima, finally resolving their border dispute from the war of the Pacific. Chile keeps Arica and Peru regains Tacna.

1943- The Russian army takes down 162 of 500 Nazi planes in one of the biggest air battles of World War II. The German attack lasted nearly to hours over Kursk
