1415- The Prince of Portugal, Henry the Navigator embarked on an expedition to Africa.




FRANCE

King of France Louis XVI




1792- King of France Louis XVI  dismisses the French government.




THE U.S. CONGRESS 





1888- The U.S. Congress created the Department of Labour.




ALBERT BERRY



1912- Captain  Albert Berry made the first successful parachute jump from an airplane in Jefferson, Mississippi.





NORTH KOREA



1951- U.N. troops seized Pyongyang, North Korea.





THURGOOD MARSHALL 

Thurgood Marshall 


1967- Thurgood Marshall nominated as 1st African American Supreme Court Justice.




HURRICANE AGNES



1972- Hurricane Agnes raced across the Caribbean toward Cuba. Florida took the brunt of Agnes as it hit the coastline and suffered about $10 million in damages.




ISRAEL



1978- Isreal withdraws forces from Lebanon.




SOUTH AFRICA


1986- Due to unrest in South Africa Bishop Desmond Tutu, winner of Nobel Prize for Peace meets with South African President P.W. Botha to discuss the nationwide state of emergency declared by Botha.
